Well here are a few reasons why I felt I had no choice...
Approaching my company's 10 year anniversary and honestly, sometimes I think, how naive I must have seemed to colleagues, friends and family, that with only a small amount of experience as a print designer, I thought I should leave my secure, stable job to be self-employed. Well here are a few reasons why I felt I had no choice...
🧠 My anxiety/ mental health on a day-to-day basis was not at a healthy level working in an office. The never-ending meetings and office drama consumed so much time that I felt I couldn't be creative. ( Don't get me wrong freelancing does not eradicate anxiety, but the things I am anxious about now are different- such as chasing payments and balancing motherhood and business 😅 ).
🌳 I live in the countryside and well... I like it. Opportunities for print designers in the Cotswolds are minimal and I just knew long term I wanted to be there and not in a city.
👗 I was predominantly doing boyswear graphics & I wanted to do more womenswear, I love designing things I would want to wear myself.Do I regret leaving when I did?- Absolutely not
🌈 I’m thinking of running a webinar soon to share my experience of setting up on my own & my do’s and don’ts for getting more clients- who would be interested in this? Click the link below to sign up now for updates.
